Sand & Safari

Embark on a captivating Kenyan safari, starting in Lamu - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - with its pristine beaches before moving to Mombasa for it's Swahili culture. In Sarara, encounter African wildlife and nomadic Samburu people amidst a stunning landscape. Finally, visit Nairobi's iconic landmarks such as the Karen Blixen Museum and the Nairobi National Museum, which offer insight into the city's colonial and indigenous heritage. Wonder through the streets of the city center, where architectural gems like the Kenyatta International Conference Centre stand as testaments to Nairobi's evolution into a modern metropolis.


For many safari connoisseurs, a Kenya experience is not complete without a visit to Samburu and to the Northern Frontier. The Ewaso river is a catalyst for wildlife who co-exist with nomadic Samburu people who are custodians of this land. 


East Africa's largest city is a melting pot of cultures and has vibrant nightlife and a rapidly growing arts scene. Its wealthier suburbs, which border the magnificent Nairobi National Park, are cloaked in history.

Kenyan Coast

Lamu is one of the oldest and best-preserved Swahili settlements in East Africa. Dating back to the14th century this UNESCO World Heritage Site on Kenya's northeast coast is celebrated for its rich blend of Arab, Persian, Indian, and African influences. Mombasa epitomizes cultural diversity. It's centuries-old history as a bustling trading port along the Indian Ocean has endowed it with a captivating blend of architectural influences, from Swahili ruins to Portuguese, Arab, and British colonial styles


Day 1



Your journey commences in Nairobi, the lively capital city of Kenya.


Upon arrival at the airport, a concierge and your trip leader will be there to greet you, assist with customs clearance, and escort you to the Four Points Sheraton hotel located conveniently at the airport. Your trip leader will provide an overview of the upcoming 8-day itinerary.


After checking into your hotel room, you can unwind for the night. If you're feeling hungry, dinner options are available at the hotel restaurant.

Day 2



Following a delightful breakfast, your concierge will fetch you from the hotel at 07:45hrs for a swift transfer to the airport. From there, embark on a short 1 hour 20 minute flight from Nairobi to Lamu, an enchanting island retreat nestled off the North coast of Kenya.


In Lamu, you will immerse yourself in the island's vibrant Swahili heritage and breathtaking scenery.


Upon arrival at Peponi Hotel in Shela, the manager will provide you with a detailed map of the island and recommend activities tailored to your preferences.


Later, at 1400hrs, your guide will rendezvous with you for an afternoon of exploration in either Shela or Lamu Town, offering a range of options to suit your interests.

Day 3



After immersing yourself in the island's rich history, spend today unwinding  on the pristine shores of Shela Beach. Indulge in the warm coastal breeze and turquoise waters, and enjoy a subset Dhow Cruise if you would like.


As the sun sets, you will have dinner at one of the beachfront restaurants before finishing the day with a scenic stroll along the coastline, taking in the breathtaking views and serenity of this idyllic island paradise.

Days 4



After a leisurely breakfast you will board the boat at 1030hrs to Lamu Airport. Your flight to Mombasa will treat you to breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean throughout.


Upon touching down at Mombasa Airport, your concierge will be waiting to escort you to the Sarova Whitesands hotel. Take your time to enjoy a leisurely lunch upon arrival.

At 1530hrs your guide will greet you for a brief tour of the Old Harbour. This historic area forms the oldest sector of Mombasa, characterized by narrow streets and elegant Arab-style residences dating back to the city's early days. It was here that the Portuguese first encountered the locals, a moment marked by historical significance. As a functioning harbor, it continues to bustle with activity and offers stunning panoramic vistas of the city and picturesque sunsets.


Conclude the day with a delightful dinner at the Tamarind hotel before returning to your hotel.

Day 5



Enjoy a leisurely morning by the beach before the guide meets you at 1100hrs for a full day excursion of Mombasa city. 


The adventure begins at the Bombolulu workshop before you will continue to Fort Jesus, a16th-century Portuguese fortress that stands as a testament to the city's colonial past. You will wander through the narrow streets of Old Town Mombasa, where Arab and Portuguese influences intertwine in the architecture and culture, offering a glimpse into centuries of trade and maritime history. Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the bustling markets, savouring the sights, sounds, and flavours of this ancient coastal city.


Dinner will be served at the Tamarind restaurant at 1745hrs before heading to the airport for your 2045hr flight back to Nairobi.

Day 6,7,8 & 9



After an early breakfast, you will transfer at 0700hrs by private charter from Wilson Airport, flying over Mt Kenya to reach the Sarara Valley in Northern Kenya. This sweeping wildlife rich valley, surrounded by the towering forest-clad Mathews mountains, is a model for community-based conservation. The local Samburu people and their livestock coexist with large mammals such as elephant, giraffes, lion, leopards and African wild dogs. 


After settling into camp, enjoy lunch and get to know the other workshop participants. 


The next few days will be spent participating in the EFH workshop.

Day 10



After a morning flight back to Kenya's capital, you will embark on a city tour in Nairobi.


The tour will begin with a visit to the iconic Nairobi National Museum, where you will explore fascinating exhibits on Kenya's cultural heritage, natural history, and contemporary art. Next, delve into the bustling streets of the city center, where you will discover landmarks such as the Kenyatta International Conference Centre and Parliament Buildings.


After the tour, enjoy a delicious dinner at the Norfolk restaurant at 1800hrs, before heading to the airport for your departure flight at 2345hrs.
