Samburu Reserve & Reteti Elephant Orphanage
The Samburu region, located in northern Kenya, is a breathtaking wilderness known for its rugged landscapes, rich wildlife, and the vibrant culture of the Samburu people. The semi-nomadic Samburu community is closely related to the Maasai and is renowned for their deep connection to the land and their distinctive traditions.
A highlight of the region is the Reteti Elephant Orphanage, a community-led sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned elephants. Reteti offers visitors a unique opportunity to witness the conservation efforts firsthand while supporting both wildlife and the local Samburu community.
L. Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru National Park is special for its unique soda lake, which attracts vast numbers of flamingos and other bird species, making it a haven for birdwatchers. Its stunning landscapes, featuring the lake, grasslands, and rocky outcrops, offer exceptional photographic opportunities. Recognized as a Ramsar site in 1990 for its international wetland importance, and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, the park holds significant ecological and cultural value.

The Mara river basin- which is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem and one of the world's largest grasslands - make up some of the oldest and least disturbed natural environments on earth. Nairobi,
We start our journey in Nairobi, Kenya's dynamic capital city.
Upon arrival at JKIA,. a customs assistant will be there to guide you through security, customs, and luggage collection.
From there, your concierge will be waiting to transfer you to Eka hotel for the evening, a journey of about 30 minutes.
A representative from Africa Untamed will accompany you from the airport and de-brief you of what lies ahead.
The hotel restaurant is open late should you wish to have a bite before retiring for the night
Days 2,3 & 4

Soroi Samburu Lodge, Samburu
Your driver will meet you at 8:30 am after breakfast for a quick 15mins drive to Wilson airport, in time for your 10:20am flight to Kalama airstrip, Samburu. This is a 1 hr flight,. landing at 11:20
Upon landing, your Samburu guide will meet you for a scenic transfer to the lodge, thats located in Samburu National Reserve.
Soroi Samburu Camp in Samburu offers a luxurious escape into the heart of Kenya’s wild north. Set along the Ewaso Nyiro River, the camp combines elegant comfort with unparalleled wildlife experiences.
The Samburu people, a semi-nomadic pastoralist community in northern Kenya, are known for their vibrant culture and deep connection to their livestock, which is central to their identity and livelihood. Their traditions are rich in colorful beadwork, dance, and rituals that celebrate their heritage and relationship with the land.
You will have the unique opportunity to engage with the Samburu by participating in cultural exchanges, and learning about their customs and livestock practices in the face of a changing planet.
A visit to the nearby Reteti Elephant Orphanage is a highlight, where you will witness the rescue and rehabilitation of baby elephants, a vital conservation project led by the local community.
This unique initiative not only helps protect wildlife but also empowers the Samburu people, offering opportunities for guest interaction with the community.
Activities at the camp include game drives, bush walks, and cultural visits to the Samburu community, providing a perfect blend of adventure and cultural immersion.
Days 5 & 6

Mbweha camp, L. Nakuru N.P
Say your goodbyes to Samburu and catch your 1.
flight to Nairobi where your driver will meet you for a road transfer to Nakuru.
This is a 3hrs road transfer with a quick stop at Mai Mahiu view point.
The viewpoint at Mai Mahiu, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Great Rift Valley, with a stunning vista of the valley's expansive landscapes, dotted with volcanic formations and lush greenery.
Between Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru lies another of Kenya’s alkaline lakes, Lake Elmenteita. The area is an incredibly important feeding ground for both greater and lesser flamingos and a critical breeding site for great white pelicans.
You can stop here on your way to Lake Nakuru National Park as it is on the way. Enjoy a leisurely wander along the shoreline and enjoy the sight of beautiful flamingos in their thousands and other animals such as zebras, gazelles, eland, and warthogs. Lunch can be booked at the beautiful Serena Elementaita hotel before proceeding to your hotel.
L.Nakuru is a Rift Valley soda lake and the centrepiece of L.Nakuru N.P. It became Kenya's first rhino sanctuary in 1984 and was designated a Ramsar site in 1990 for its ecological importance. Home to black and white rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, and over 450 bird species, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.
Your first evening will be spent at leisure, or you can take an evening walk to explore Soysambu Conservancy and stretch after the long day of driving.
The next day will be spent exploring the Park. A stop at KWS Park Headquarters for a chat are possible.
Your guide will then drop you off at the launch point for your afternoon boat safari.
The boat safari is offered on set departure times with no more than eight passengers accompanied by a Lake Nakuru resident Naturalist.
The afternoon sundowner experience is enjoyed with bitings and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The experience Lasts 2 hours and thirty 30 mins.
Nearby, Mbweha Camp provides cozy accommodations and an immersive safari experience.
Days 7,8 & 9

Spekes Camp - Maasai Mara
After a leisurely breakfast at the Mbweha camp, your guide will pick you up and transfer you by road to Speke's camp Maasai Mara, in time for lunch.
You will spend three nights here. Speke's Camp, nestled on the edge of the Maasai Mara Reserve, offers an authentic and intimate safari experience. With its charming, eco-friendly tents, the camp provides easy access to prime wildlife areas, including the famed Mara River crossings during the Great Migration.
Activities at Speke's Camp include exciting game drives, guided bush walks, accompanied by an experienced guide that focus on different aspects of the wilderness.
Learn about the medicinal uses of plants, track animal footprints, and discover the intricate web of life that thrives around the camp.
You will also get the opportunity to visit the MAA trust.
The Maa Trust is a non-profit organisation working together with community-owned wildlife conservancies in Maasai Mara. They work to increase the dividends from wildlife and provide alternative livelihoods for the local Maasai community.
The camp’s peaceful riverside setting and personal attention to detail make it the perfect base for exploring the wonders of the Maasai Mara as well as celebrate your love.
Day 10
10. 08
Departure; Nairobi
Breakfast is at leisure. Say your goodbyes to the lodge before joining your guide for a 20-minute transfer to Musiara Airstrip, in time to catch your 10:00 am flight to Nairobi. This is a 1-hour flight.
Upon landing, your driver will be waiting to transfer you to Eka Hotel for the rest of the day.
The day is yours to spend as you wish.
We recommend visiting the Giraffe Center to get up close and feed the giraffes while learning about their habits, or perhaps visiting the National Museum of Kenya for a fascinating look at ancient human evolution.
Depending on the time of your flight out of Nairobi, your driver will pick you up from Eka Hotel 3 hours before departure to transfer you to JKIA for your onward flight home.
